My GF bought this 31' 1973 Airstream last fall with the expectation of a full renovation. We rented a nearby barn/ shop (OMG, it’s got concrete floors) and started the very long task of drilling out hundreds of aluminum rivets. In just over a day, here we are.
Now time for some rust work on the frame. Have I told you lately, I fucking hate rust.

That looks like a lot of work. How long do you think the restoration will take?

Hoping 1-2 weeks for frame rust repair and replace subfloor then the body back on. Then a few months of building out the interior. She is a crap ton more driven to get a project done then I will ever be so this late summer/fall is a real possibility.

Is this with working after your day job and on weekends or have you quit your day jobs?

Day jobs are in medicine, so we don’t get to work from home , at least until we are exposed to Covid19.
She is a machine, made and replaced her kitchen countertops in a week.

If it were my project alone , that’s accurate. But she's a driven sort with her projects.

I like the hoisting jig you made. You look like you mean business.
Are you going to tackle the rust yourselves?

Moving that aluminum shell to its jig must have been a bit nerve racking

She found a local underworked welder who is going to take on most of the heavy welding

Yeah , it was a little unnerving when the few remaining drilled out rivets caught then quickly popped.
